Debt Negotiators does not provide financial advice, financial counselling or credit counselling.
What we are, and what we are not
Debt Negotiators is the trading name of A & M Group Pty Ltd, ABN 90 138 457 520.
We are:
- a Registered Debt Agreement Administrator with the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA), registration number 1403
- the holder of Australian Credit Licence 390820, which includes authorisation to provide debt management services
- a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), membership number 25029
We are not:
- a law firm, and we do not provide legal services or legal advice
- a registered trustee in bankruptcy
- a registered liquidator, voluntary administrator or small business restructuring practitioner
- a financial counselling service
- a lender or credit provider
Where a matter requires a registered trustee, a registered liquidator or a lawyer, that role must be performed by a person registered or admitted to do so. We can explain what those roles involve and refer you on. We cannot perform them.
Commissions and referral payments
If you take out a loan we arrange, A & M Group may receive a commission from the lender. If we refer you to a registered trustee or small business restructuring practitioner, we may receive a referral payment or fees for pre-insolvency work. We’ll tell you about these before you decide.
Free independent help is available
If you would prefer to speak to someone free of charge and entirely independent of us, the National Debt Helpline is a free, confidential financial counselling service: 1800 007 007, or ndh.org.au.
Outcomes are not guaranteed
Debt solutions depend on your individual circumstances, your creditors and, in some cases, decisions made by third parties including AFSA and the courts.
We do not guarantee that:
- any particular debt solution will be available to you
- any creditor will accept any proposal
- any application will be approved
- any outcome will be achieved within any particular timeframe
Any examples, scenarios or general figures on this website are illustrative only. They are not a prediction or promise of what will happen in your case.
Formal debt solutions have serious consequences
Debt Agreements, Personal Insolvency Agreements and Bankruptcy are formal legal arrangements with lasting effects. Depending on the option, these can include being recorded on the National Personal Insolvency Index (NPII), a public register: debt agreements for a limited time, and personal insolvency agreements and bankruptcy permanently; effects on your credit report; restrictions on obtaining credit; effects on your ability to travel overseas; and effects on your ability to hold certain occupations or company positions.
These are significant decisions. Please make sure you understand the consequences of any option before you proceed, and seek independent advice if you are unsure.
